Biosynthesis of cholesterol

Practices > Biosynthesis of cholesterol using Symyx Draw, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint

Create the new folder and name it “Your name” then follow the below questions:
A)
Create a sequence using Symyx program:
   1. Write the mRNA codon sequence and their amino acid sequence.
   2.
Use the font, size: "Times New Roman", "12".
   3. Save the structure as skc and name it "sequence”.

5' UCU-UCG-UUA-UCC-UUG 3'
               H-ser-ser-leu-ser-leu-OH

B) Biosynthesis of cholesterol using Symyx program:

   1. Draw the below structures.
   2. Use the font, size: "Times New Roman", "12" and use red color for the oxygen atoms.
   3.
Calculate as you draw “Formula weight, exact mass, composition, and formula”.
   4.
Save the structure as skc and image then name it "Biosynthesis of cholesterol"

C) Present your topic using MS PowerPoint
   1. In the first slide, write the biosynthesis of cholesterol as title and your name as subtitle.
   2. In the second slide, write the title “Introduction” and then write the following text in arrangement.
“Progesterone is a C-12 steroid hormone involved in the female menstrual cycle, pregnancy and
embryogenesis of humans and other species. Progesteron belongs to a class of hormones called
progestogens and is the major naturally occurring human progestogen”.

   3. In the third slide, write the title “Biosynthesis of progesterone” and then write the following text in
       arrangement.

“In mammals, progesterone, like all other steroid hormones, is synthesized from pregnenolone, which in turn is
     derived from cholesterol”.

   4.
In the fourth slide, put the biosynthesis of cholesterol structure as image.

D) Format your topic using MS Word.
   1. In the first page, put the biosynthesis of cholesterol as title and your name as subtitle.
   2.
In the second page, write “Table of contents” to create table of contents.
   3. In the third page, write “List of figures” to create list of figures.
   4.
In the fourth page, write “List of tables” to create list of tables.
   5.
In the fifth page, write the title “Introduction” in the top of page and then write the
following text in
       arrangement.

Progesterone is a C-12 steroid hormone involved in the female menstrual cycle, pregnancy and
embryogenesis of humans and other species. Progesteron belongs to a class of hormones called
progestogens and is the major naturally occurring human progestogen”.

   6.
In the sixth page, write the title “Biosynthesis of progesterone” and then write
the following text in
       arrangement.
“In mammals, progesterone, like all other steroid hormones, is synthesized from pregnenolone, which in turn is
      derived from cholesterol”.

   7. In the seventh page, put the biosynthesis of cholesterol structure as image and name it “Biosynthesis of
       cholesterol”.

   8.
In the eighth page, Put the below tables.

See the practice: Symyx Draw for
Biosynthesis of cholesterol (skc file) and sequence (skc file), MS Word (docx file) & MS PowerPoint (ppt file).
